En el primer discurso de la primera sesión de la Conferencia General Semestral N° 194, el presidente Jeffrey R. Holland, presidente en funciones del Cuórum de los Doce Apóstoles, testificó que Dios escucha cada oración y responde a cada una de ellas según el sendero que Él ha trazado.

Aproximadamente 15 000 personas se reunieron en el Centro de Conferencias el sábado por la mañana. La sesión fue dirigida por el presidente Dallin H. Oaks, primer consejero de la Primera Presidencia, quien dirigió los sostenimientos de los líderes actuales y nuevos de la Iglesia.
Además, el presidente de la Escuela Dominical, Mark L. Pace, y sus consejeros, los hermanos Milton Camargo y Jan E. Newman, fueron relevados a partir del 1 de agosto. En ese momento, el élder Paul V. Johnson comenzará su servicio como nuevo presidente de la Escuela Dominical. El hermano Chad H Webb y el hermano Gabriel W. Reid servirán como primer y segundo consejero, respectivamente. El élder Johnson actualmente sirve como Setenta Autoridad General y recibirá el estatus de emérito a partir del 1 de agosto.
Concluyó la sesión el presidente Henry B. Eyring, segundo consejero de la Primera Presidencia, quien habló sobre la importancia de los convenios del templo. “Ciertamente, todos nosotros tendremos pruebas, desafíos y pesar. Ninguno de nosotros es inmune a los “aguij[ones] en [la] carne”. Pese a ello, conforme asistimos al templo y recordamos nuestros convenios, podemos prepararnos para recibir guía individual por parte del Señor”.
Los otros oradores de la sesión fueron el élder Ulisses Soares, del Cuórum de los Doce Apóstoles; la hermana J. Anette Dennis, primera consejera de la presidencia general de la Sociedad de Socorro; el élder Alexander Dushku, Setenta Autoridad General; y el élder Jack N. Gerard, también Setenta Autoridad General. Jared B. Larson, director general de auditoría interna de la Iglesia, presentó el informe de auditoría de la Iglesia.
El élder S. Gifford Nielsen y el élder Mark D. Eddy, Setentas Autoridades Generales, ofrecieron oraciones. El élder Nielsen recibirá el estatus de emérito a partir del 1 de agosto.
