PROVO, Utah — Más de 16 000 personas se reunieron en el campus de la Universidad Brigham Young en Provo, Utah, con el interés común de aprender y fortalecer su fe en Jesucristo durante la Semana de Educación de BYU 2024.
Datos sobre la Semana de la Educación:
3000 personas asistieron al primer programa, realizado hace más de 100 años, del 23 al 28 de enero de 1922.
Este año hubo 16 179 participantes
68% mujeres y 32% hombres
Asistieron personas de cada estado de EE. UU. y siete otros países (Australia, Canadá, México, Países Bajos, Taiwán, Emiratos Árabes Unidos y Reino Unido).
Se impartieron 1007 clases por 301 presentadores.
Se utilizaron 7 autobuses y 20 furgonetas para transportar a los asistentes por el campus de BYU
El programa requiere el apoyo de cientos de empleados de BYU de muchos departamentos y más de 500 voluntarios.
Cada año, la conferencia de cinco días atrae a personas de toda la Iglesia. Este año, la Semana de Educación —del 19 al 23 de agosto— trajo asistentes desde lugares tan lejanos como Australia, Taiwán, los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, los Países Bajos y los 50 estados de los Estados Unidos.
Uno de los puntos destacados de 2024 fue el devocional del élder Neil L. Andersen, del Cuórum de los Doce Apóstoles, el martes 20 de agosto. Los asistentes eligieron entre 1007 clases impartidas por 301 presentadores, incluyendo las presidencias generales de la Sociedad de Socorro, los Hombres Jóvenes, las Mujeres Jóvenes y las organizaciones de la Primaria, así como representantes del Sistema Educativo de la Iglesia y del Departamento de Historia de la Iglesia, y otros expertos y profesionales en varios campos.
El tema de este año se encontró en Romanos 12:2, “Transformaos por medio de la renovación de vuestro entendimiento”, que destaca la instrucción del apóstol Pablo de crecer en la fe, desarrollar los dones individuales y juntos llegar a ser “un solo cuerpo en Cristo” (Romanos 12:5).
